Makes me think of DeChirico

Hey epppie! I can see that, there's a surreal nature to the figure, floating on the canvas, with that small featureless face. I think it's the shape of the head that invokes DeChirico most for me.

My favorite passages are the shadows underneath the face and on the figure's right shoulder. There's a clear sense of light there and a volume that's visually appealing. Actually, there are other shadows that I think work quite well. I also like the wide range of colors on the figure.

Although, the figure's relationship to the page is interesting, I find it a little arbitrary. The figure isn't grounded in a space. Also, it's not clear why the legs weren't painted. The placement of the figure on the canvas and it's relationship to the visual space are two the things that come to mind when thinking of providing feedback.I wonder why the choices were made and whether these things could be investigated.

Anyway, Glad to have this painting on Art Crit. Hope to see more work Darcy, I'm always interested in how one work fits in to the larger body of work.

The color is nice but I'm not sure if the anatomical distortions are deliberate or are accidental. Perhaps the composition is a little too bull's eye? I like the beginnings of the modelling of tone and the warm/cool relationships of the color.
