It's an interesting piece, but it leaves me with some questions. For instance, what is the size and media? The technique has qualities of a pictorial batik, with the translucence and overlapping and color scheme. Color and composition work pretty well, although there are areas that are spatially ambiguous - like where the orange figure's hand touches the large face on the right. Other elements seem ambiguous too - what are the white/yellowish small rounded shapes? Maybe my confusion is a function of the photo quality. I wish I could see it better...
Sorry not to respond here in a more timely fashion. After all this delay and traveling, I'm not sure I have too much to add. I like the atypical use of materials. There's a kind of freedom with traditional looking techniques and materials. I like the breathing of life into tradition (as I sense it).
My favorite passage is his right hand with the light on the fingers and the shadow on the hand. The repitition and variation is visually interesting as well.
In terms of some feedback, I feel at a loss there. I'm not sure I really capture the essence of the piece, and not sure if that has to do with its presentation here as others have pointed out.
Right now, it comes across to a some kind of mythology, maybe a creation myth.. but I can't pin it down.
