Okay, I loved this piece when I first saw it. I had previously been a fan of a teeth painting Laura had done some time back.
There's a feeling, perhaps immature, where I have a certain respect and curiosity for passages that I couldn't pull off myself. The translucence and strength of color come to mind in that respect.
The volume works well and the composition does as well. The swirl and movement around the piece is neat.
In terms of feedback, the center under part of the mouth may be a little less opaque than other parts where that wouldn't fit with the nature of the anatomy there.
The transition from the gum to the under part of the mouth has a slight sense that they are two separate things. I know that division is there from remembering my mouth, heh, but wonder if there would be a way to have it there but also convey a figure-ground relationship there, an anchoring.
I was thinking just today how interesting the colors of teeth are.
Oh wow ... this is amazing. It struck me right away ... think it has to do w/ the lines of colour ... and the colours themselves ... capturing the sense of depth too.
(Hi Dean!)
